Bill BowmanBill Bowman, a 70-year-old retired United States Army LTC, remained fit and active, swimming, golfing and playing tennis during retirement. Ultimately, he needed a double hip replacement or he would be permanently sidelined.

Bill chose St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital in The Woodlands where he had successful hip replacement surgery on both hips over the course of 7 weeks. He reserves special compliment for his surgeon, who took time to answer every question and explain every step in the procedure.  Bill also dubbed St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital, the “Surgery Country Club” because of the gorgeous surroundings, delicious food served upon request, responsive support staff and great rehab staff.

Joint replacement patients at Lakeside are encouraged to attend “Camp Lakeside”, a patient and caregiver education “Prehab” program offered prior to surgery.  Camp Lakeside helps prepare patients for total joint replacement surgeries.   The goal of the Camp is to educate patients and family members to be more informed and confident partners in their own care.

Today, Bill is back in the swing of life enjoying the things he loves most including a round of golf or a challenging tennis match, thanks to the “Faithful, Loving Care” he received at St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital.
